Finding your way around the admin

Documentation / Getting started

Start with the selected website, then choose the area that owns the change. Page content, page metadata, and site settings are related, but they are not interchangeable editing surfaces.

Find the page first

The content area lists pages within the selected collection. Use the page list to locate the page by title or path. Open its website view to inspect content, or use Edit page metadata to open its settings. The inline settings area identifies the page path, helping you confirm that you are editing the intended page.

Page settings include navigation labels, visible titles, URLs, access choices, and template selection. Changing these fields is different from editing the Text blocks inside the page body. After saving metadata, reopen the settings to verify the stored values.

Choose the appropriate area

  • Templates manages reusable page structures. Opening a template edits the template itself, not an individual page.
  • Settings > Design > Fonts manages site font selections.
  • The footer and topline design areas manage shared site content.
  • Media and forms have their own administration areas; inserting an existing asset or form on a page does not create its configuration from scratch.

Available areas depend on the website configuration and your access. A missing insertion choice does not necessarily mean the page is damaged.

In the visual editor, distinguish the section toolbar from the smaller toolbar for a content block. Select the intended container before moving or deleting anything. Custom-designed content and shared shell regions remain read-only there.

See Page anatomy and the managed editor for selection boundaries, and Templates and reusable content before editing content shared across pages.
