Cookie consent and third-party integrations

Documentation / Legal and privacy with LEX8

Cookie consent combines visitor choices, regional rules, integration loading, and audit records. A visible banner alone does not establish that every third-party embed or injected script respects those choices. Inventory the actual services on the website before reviewing the questionnaire.

Configure and inspect

Open LEX8 > Cookie Settings to review Region Override and Quebec compliance mode. Save Cookie Settings stores draft questionnaire settings without regenerating legal pages. Check the effective published configuration as part of the reviewed legal-settings process.

The current runtime initializes Google Consent Mode with denied nonessential storage signals and exposes a consent gate for participating integrations. The layout uses that gate for supported analytics and marketing loading. Arbitrary custom snippets do not automatically become consent-aware merely because they appear on the same page.

The engine also provides Cookie Preferences reopening controls and consent-update handling. An older warning on the Cookie Settings screen still says blocking and reopening are pending; current source includes these mechanisms. Verify the deployed website rather than treating either that warning or an implementation checklist as a complete behavioral test.

Test as a visitor

Use a fresh browser state. Check which requests occur before a choice, after rejection, and after granting specific categories. Reopen Cookie Preferences and change the selection. Inspect the footer entry as well as any floating control, especially with a custom shell.

Under LEX8 > Audit Logs, choose a date range and Load Logs to inspect recorded consent events. Export only through approved handling, since logs can contain visitor context.

If a service loads too early, identify the exact integration or injected snippet and have its loading reviewed. Do not describe the site as compliant solely because consent was logged. See media, forms, and integrations and legal and privacy.
