Privacy policies, terms, and footer links
Documentation / Legal and privacy with LEX8
LEX8 generates two document types: Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Their saved routes are /privacy-policy and /terms-of-services. The plural services in the second route is intentional in the current implementation; do not substitute a remembered URL when checking links.
Check the generated pages
After Save & Generate Legal Pages, open both routes on the selected website. Review the title, update date, organization details, processing disclosures, and contact channels. Generated pages include a real header and managed Markdown content. Their availability is written as public, although whole-site privacy can still restrict visitor access.
The main-language documents use source page identities. Translated variants share those identities and are written for the configured languages. Test language switching through the site rather than assuming a localized title implies a particular slug.
Check the footer
Generation adds legal-page references to footer navigation and preserves unrelated existing links. Open the public footer and follow each link in the relevant languages. Check that the labels identify the right document and that neither link points to a different website or an obsolete manually authored page.
A custom shell can supply its own footer fragment. Confirm that it renders the intended legal links and cookie-preferences entry; the existence of footer settings does not prove a custom fragment displays them.
Maintain reviewed content
If counsel requires changes, agree how those amendments will be maintained. Regeneration replaces legal page content, so manual edits can be lost unless the approved changes are reflected in the source answers or separately reconciled.
If a link is missing, inspect both the saved footer references and the active footer presentation before generating documents again. If a route fails, verify page identity, language, and site visibility. See templates and reusable content, languages and translations, and legal and privacy.
