Quebec language and privacy settings
Documentation / Legal and privacy with LEX8
The questionnaire's Quebec Compliance (Law 25 + Bill 96) control enables Quebec-specific behavior. It is separate from selecting Quebec as the company's jurisdiction. Review both with the responsible privacy or legal adviser; neither switch is a guarantee of legal compliance.
Prepare the content and answers
Complete company and privacy-officer details in LEX8 > Legal Documents Wizard. The generation guard requires the legal company name and privacy-officer name and contact information when Quebec compliance is enabled. General questionnaire validation also applies.
Configure French as a website language and prepare the relevant French content before launch. The generation service creates legal pages in the configured language set; it does not add French to the website automatically just because Quebec compliance is selected.
Understand enforcement boundaries
The code includes a French-first legal-page guard for non-French publication paths. It checks for the corresponding French legal variant. The runtime also includes regional consent behavior and language-related prompts, with settings and request context influencing what a visitor sees.
These mechanisms do not translate the rest of the website, verify every contract, or replace a review of actual collection practices. Saving a questionnaire draft can persist the Quebec flag without regenerating legal documents, so review what is active and what remains outdated.
Verify the site
Open French and other-language legal routes, test language switching, and inspect footer links. Check the banner and recorded consent in the deployed environment. A browser's remembered language or consent choice can change the result, so use a fresh session for first-visit testing.
If generation reports missing fields or a missing French version, correct that prerequisite instead of disabling safeguards merely to publish. Bring unresolved language and privacy questions to qualified counsel. See languages and translations and legal and privacy.
