Images, galleries, and video blocks

Documentation / Page anatomy and the managed editor

Use Image for a single visual, Gallery for a group of images, and Video for supported hosted video content. Header background media uses the header's settings instead of a body media block.

Place media in context

Insert the appropriate type from Add Block. Complete the image, gallery, or video dialog and review the result inside its section. A media preview alone does not show how the item will fit beside a heading, within a Row, or on a narrow screen.

Use the block's editing control to reopen its media dialog. Existing galleries open in the gallery editor rather than behaving like a sequence of unrelated Text blocks. Keep captions and image descriptions meaningful for the content being shown.

A single image and an image inside a Row can have different layout constraints. The Row's Images choice can preserve natural proportions or fill and crop a cell. Check the visible subject after changing that setting.

Video is provider-dependent

Native video stores an identifier and playback options. External provider content can instead use supported Embed choices. Do not assume a URL from any video website can be pasted into a native hosted-video field.

Custom-designed pages have separate source and video controls where supported. Those controls do not make the surrounding custom body visually editable. Available playback choices can differ by provider.

After saving, check that images load, captions remain readable, and video playback works at the actual page address. Review mobile sizing and avoid making essential information available only through autoplaying media.
