Creating and editing a page template
Documentation / Templates and reusable content
Create a template when several pages should share a structure while keeping their own content. Name it for its purpose, such as a service detail or resource article, so editors can choose it without inspecting its source.
Create the template
Open Templates, enter a name in Template name..., and choose Create. The template appears in the list. Choose Edit to open its dedicated editor.
A newly created template includes a header and a starter section. Replace starter copy and build the intended native structure. Retain the real header block rather than using a first body section as a substitute.
Define page-specific areas
Inside a template section, insert Editable where each page should supply content. The editor assigns an unused code, initially following names such as TXT01. Use Editable Settings > Code to inspect the identifier.
Treat those codes as durable connections between the template and its pages. Renaming a code after pages have stored content under it can stop that content appearing in the intended area. Use a clear plan before restructuring existing templates.
The template editor also exposes header and column locking controls. Bound pages do not receive unrestricted section editing merely because a section is visible.
Test the template in context
Save the template through its editor, then apply it to a suitable test page. Add realistic content to the editable areas. Check a short page and one with longer text, media, or a Row. Inspect header behavior and mobile layout.
Editing a template is a shared change, not a local page experiment. Review existing dependents before saving structural changes to a template already in use.
