Shared toplines, prefooters, and footers
Documentation / Templates and reusable content
Toplines, prefooters, and footers provide content shared around page bodies. They use dedicated system pages referenced by site settings, rather than ordinary sections copied into every page.
Create or open shared content
In the topline design area, use Create Topline Page if no shared page exists. Edit the content in the provided editor or use Open in new tab. Show topline controls whether the configured topline is used.
In the footer design area, Create Footer Page creates the shared footer content page. Create Pre-Footer Page creates the content displayed above the full footer navigation area. Enable Use pre-footer when that region should appear, and save the relevant settings.
Creating the content page and enabling its region are separate responsibilities. If content exists but is not visible, inspect the site's region setting before creating another page.
Check shared options
Footer settings include Show full navigation menu in footer, Show language nav, and Hide legal links. Review legal-link changes with the site's legal configuration rather than hiding required destinations to simplify the design.
These shared system pages are exempt from the regular page-header requirement. Do not add a normal article header simply because ordinary pages have one. Keep shared content appropriate for all routes where it appears.
Languages and custom shells
Use the shared content area's content-language selection when maintaining translations. Changing the admin interface language is not a translation of the footer.
An active custom shell can replace these regions. If a native shared edit does not appear, inspect shell ownership before changing unrelated page bodies. After saving, check several pages, translations, mobile layout, and legal destinations.
