Generate legal pages and review cookie consent with LEX8
Establish the limits first
LEX8 collects legal configuration and generates legal content, but it does not guarantee compliance and is not legal advice. Have qualified counsel review the result for your actual activities and jurisdictions. A completeness score is not a legal certification.
You need administrator access, authority to approve legal publication, and accurate information about the business. Gather the legal name and address, privacy contact, collection points, integrations, retention practices, data residency, transfers, lawful bases, minors, and recourse contacts. Inventory the actual forms, analytics, commerce, and external media on the website. Do not copy another company's questionnaire simply because its address or ownership is similar.
Complete and review the questionnaire
- Open LEX8 for the selected website and its questionnaire. Work through Company, Privacy Officer, Collection, AI & Residency, Governance, and Recourse. The profiling terminology here is a regulatory subject; answer according to actual behavior rather than omitting it because the website does not advertise an assistant.
- Save unfinished answers with Save Draft. This persists the questionnaire without generating legal pages. It also persists the Quebec-compliance toggle, so review that setting before saving; a draft is not necessarily isolated from regional behavior. Leave missing facts for the responsible person rather than inventing retention periods, storage locations, or contacts.
- Review the configured website languages before generation. Save & Generate Legal Pages writes privacy and terms pages in every configured language and updates their footer links. English and French use legal templates; other configured languages require the workspace translation provider. This guide does not add languages or supply translated legal wording.
- Obtain approval for generation, especially when existing legal pages contain reviewed edits. Generation replaces legal page content. Review it as a publication change, with no automatic merge of counsel's previous wording. If using MCP,
get_legal_settingsneeds read scope andsave_legal_settingsneeds write scope. Its default draft mode is different from explicitly generating withdraft: false. - Generate only after the questionnaire is ready. Open every resulting legal page and inspect company details, disclosures, jurisdiction-specific sections, language, and footer destinations. Keep counsel's requested changes and the questionnaire consistent so future regeneration does not silently reintroduce outdated statements.
Test consent against actual integrations
Use a fresh browser session without previously stored consent. Inspect the optional categories, Save Preferences, and the applicable rejection control. Test with optional consent declined, then test an allowed category. Confirm that configured analytics and marketing integrations behave accordingly; a banner alone does not establish that arbitrary embedded scripts obey it.
Review any regional test override with the responsible administrator and restore normal behavior after testing. Check provider embeds separately, including links that leave the website. Do not promise universal third-party blocking based only on native integration controls.
If generation fails, inspect the reported error and existing pages before retrying: storage failures can leave partial writes. Do not delete legal pages or footer links as an automatic cleanup. Record approval and arrange legal review after material business or tracking changes. See legal and privacy with LEX8 and media and integrations.
