Blog listings and post ordering

Documentation / Blogs

Blog listings read posts from a dated collection and render links to their pages. They normally sort by publication date, newest first. A listing's settings control presentation without changing the saved post content.

Configure the block

Insert a collection-listing block and select the blog under Collection. Choose a preset such as cards, headlines, covers, minimal entries, or a magazine layout. The preset determines which fields appear; some show images and summaries, while others show only titles and dates.

Use Sort Order to choose date order, alphabetical order, custom order, random order, or Popular (Rating). Custom order uses the root-file sequence where available. Popular uses stored ratings, not analytics or observed readership.

Set Max records (0 = all) to cap the total display. The initial item count and Show "See More" button configure progressive display where supported. A low maximum can prevent additional posts from appearing even when more are available in the collection.

Understand filtering

The renderer selects posts for the current language. It excludes unavailable posts and dates later than today. A translated page can inherit source availability when its own availability is omitted. Editing a listing does not override those rules.

If a post is missing, check its collection, language, date, availability, and the listing limits before changing the visual preset. A missing thumbnail may simply mean the selected preset does not display images.

Verify the archive

Save and reload the containing page. Check the first item, a later item, and the additional-items button if enabled. Confirm that every link opens the correct localized post address.
