Writing and editing blog posts

Documentation / Blogs

Blog posts use the page editor. You can write a header and body sections, add text and media blocks, and use an applicable page template. The post belongs to its dated collection through collection membership rather than a separately stored page-type label.

Create and write the post

Select the blog collection in the pages area, then choose Add page. Supply a title and, optionally, a URL slug. Check the generated slug, particularly when the title contains punctuation or non-English characters.

Open the page in the managed editor. Keep a real header block, then organize the body into sections and blocks. Use headings to describe the article's structure. Text blocks store Markdown; use the supported text controls rather than pasting a complete HTML page into a text field.

Add links through the page picker where possible so internal destinations use stable page references. For images or video, review the media requirements before inserting assets.

Set publication details

In page settings, review the navigation title, visible page title, Summary, Date, and availability. A title used in site navigation can be shorter than the article heading. A listing summary should explain the post without repeating its opening paragraph.

Save the actual page changes. Saved editor drafts and committed page content are separate states; autosaved edits should not be treated as published content.

Check the finished post

Reload the saved page, follow its link from the blog listing, and inspect its layout on a narrow screen. Verify links, image descriptions, date, and availability without an administrator session.
