Managed design controls
Documentation / Design and styling
Managed design keeps content in native structures that the visual editor understands. Its controls are attached to particular containers and content types, so begin by selecting the item you want to change.
Header and section settings
Header settings controls the real page header, including presentation, width, height, title visibility, and supported media. Section settings controls a body container, including width, section height, columns, and the supported curtain overlay.
These panels are not interchangeable. The current native section settings do not provide an unrestricted background-image or decorative-animation builder. Older stored properties and screenshots can describe controls that are no longer part of the current editing model.
Block and Row settings
A content block's Design settings provides supported surface choices such as Background, Padding, and Cell gap. Text also exposes Text style and Font role. A Row adds Tablet columns, Surface layout, Images, and cell controls.
Use these settings to express repeated patterns, such as a group of equal-height cards, before considering custom source. Choose site fonts and colors at their shared level rather than recreating them in each block.
Know when controls stop
Template-bound pages restrict edits to permitted areas and overrides. A locked header can expose only a reduced media-related panel. Custom bodies and shared shell regions remain read-only in the visual editor; native controls cannot rewrite their source.
Change one responsible layer at a time, then inspect the saved result. Check text wrapping, media crop, and spacing across screen sizes. If a desired control is absent, confirm the editing mode instead of inserting unsupported properties.
See Page anatomy and the managed editor for container boundaries.
