Page summaries and social sharing images

Documentation / Search visibility and sharing

A page summary describes content outside its full page. A social image is offered to services that preview a shared link. Neither is the same as the visible heading or body introduction.

Check which summary is used

Write a sentence that makes sense outside the page, then verify its destination. The current native Summary control saves navSummary. Dated listings and the canonical summary fallback read pageSummary; tree descriptive text reads description. These fields are not automatically interchangeable.

If the expected excerpt does not update, ask an administrator to inspect the saved page and update the appropriate field through a supported page-editing interface. Also check the listing preset: some presentations omit descriptions entirely. Set the SEO description separately when search or sharing needs explicit wording.

Choose the sharing image

In the page SEO tab, set the social image as an HTTP(S) URL or site-relative image path. The page override wins over the header image, which wins over the site social image. Clear the override and save to return to the next available candidate.

This field does not replace the visible header or a blog listing's cover image.

For Cloudflare Images sources, the engine produces a 1200 by 630 JPEG crop with matching metadata. External or legacy images retain their original address without invented dimensions. Check that the source is publicly reachable and that its crop preserves important content.

Check the external result

Inspect the rendered Open Graph and card metadata, then test the public address with the target service's debugger where available. Platforms can cache older previews; saving Beeboo content does not force an immediate external refresh.
