Add a video or third-party embed to a page
Choose a supported presentation
Decide whether you need a hosted video, a supported video URL, or an Embed block linking to external content. Use the block that matches the source rather than pasting arbitrary executable code into a text block.
You need administrator access, publication permission, the approved media file or public provider URL, and a useful description. Confirm the exact website, page, and language. Prepare a text summary or transcript where the media carries information readers otherwise cannot access.
Third-party content can introduce its own cookies, account requirements, or regional restrictions. Review those dependencies before publication. A successful embed does not establish that consent requirements have been met or that every visitor can use the provider.
Insert and save the media
- Open the managed page and choose a suitable body section. Keep its header intact. Use Add Block > Video for the native video path, which supports Cloudflare Stream uploads or supported YouTube/Vimeo URLs. Complete the upload or URL selection and check that processing has finished before promising visitors a working player.
- For supported external linked content, choose Add Block > Embed. Configure the link-based embed rather than assuming every copied iframe or provider script is supported. Preserve an ordinary link when the external service cannot be embedded reliably.
- Add nearby copy that identifies the content and what visitors will learn. Avoid an unexplained player with no alternative route. If the video contains speech, provide accessible supporting text and check available captions in the provider's player.
- Review layout and save the page explicitly. Check that the media fits its container without forcing horizontal scrolling. Do not use a fixed desktop width as the only layout rule for phone visitors.
- If the page already uses custom design, edit its supported custom source instead of trying to activate native visual editing. The reviewed
videobehavior supports Stream, YouTube, and original Instagram embeds. Custom design > Video controls edits these fields through its reviewed draft process. Keep a labelled fallback anchor matching the selected provider and ID. - Review any custom-video draft, publish it only after approval, and check the normal page route. YouTube defaults to visible controls without autoplay. Instagram playback remains under the provider's control; do not promise editable autoplay switches for that provider. Reduced motion disables custom-video autoplay and keeps controls available.
Test outside your account
Use a signed-out browser and a phone. Start playback, adjust available controls, use the fallback link, and test the page with optional consent declined. Confirm that a logged-in provider account is not concealing an access restriction. Enable reduced motion and verify that the page remains useful without automatic playback.
If the player fails, inspect the provider URL, processing state, embedding permission, and consent behavior before changing page layout. Do not bypass validation with site-wide script injection. See media, forms, and integrations, design and styling, and legal and privacy.
