Creating and updating page translations
Documentation / Languages and translations
A page translation is a language version of an existing page. It keeps the source page identity while storing translated copy, a localized path, and language-specific metadata.
Create or refresh a version
Configure the target language first. Open the source page's language controls and use the translation action for that language. Existing versions offer a retranslation action. Automatic translation requires an available provider, and errors can include the attempted provider details.
After generation, select the target content language and review the resulting page. Check headings, body text, buttons, internal links, summary, URL, and SEO copy. Translation generation includes page metadata fields, but that does not remove the need for editorial review.
Avoid replacing reviewed work
A translation can be protected from global automatic translation using its lock or protection control. This exclusion applies to the global translation selection; do not treat it as an access permission or a promise that every explicit retranslation action is blocked.
The site language screen offers Translate missing for absent versions and Translate All for replacement. The latter warns that existing unprotected translations will be overwritten. Use it only when that replacement is intended.
Sync Properties copies source structure and design while retaining existing translated text. It is not a new translation or a substitute for checking whether changed source wording needs translation.
Validate the saved version
Reload the translated page and use the public language selector to move between source and translation. Check the listing language if the page belongs to a blog or tree, and inspect its title and description metadata.
