Create your first blog

Guides

Plan a small first release

You will create a dated collection and one useful post, then display it from an appropriate page. A collection organizes posts; it does not remove the need to check the listing, landing page, and individual post URLs.

Before starting, confirm administrator access, the selected website, and the main content language. Prepare a post title, approved article text, a short summary, and an image you have permission to publish. Decide on a stable base path, such as /journal, before sharing links.

A suitable first article could explain how your workshop assesses a repair. Include actual procedures and contact options, not fictional customer quotes or unsupported turnaround promises.

Create the collection and article

  1. Open Collections, choose New collection, and enter Name and Base path. Under Type, select Dated (blog/changelog). Save the collection. Select Enable RSS feed only if you intend to offer that feed and will check it after launch.
  2. Open Pages, select the new collection, and use Add Page to create its first item. If using MCP instead, obtain the exact root ID and use create_blog_post; that tool defaults to draft availability. Read the resulting page before changing visibility.
  3. Set the post's title and slug. The collection base path contributes to its public address, so do not type the complete public URL into a relative item slug. Confirm the resolved URL by opening the item from the page list.
  4. Write the article in the managed editor. Keep the real header and organize body copy with H2 headings, paragraphs, and relevant images. Use descriptive link text when referring to a service page. Review the article for promises, names, and dates before saving.
  5. Enter a useful Summary and set Date in page settings. A future date hides a page from public navigation and listings until that day, but direct links can still work. Do not use a future date as a confidentiality control.
  6. Add a Page List block to the page where visitors should discover posts, selecting this dated collection in its settings. Choose a suitable blog presentation, such as the Card preset. Check the listing rather than assuming that a collection automatically appears in main navigation. Retain a useful introductory page if the blog needs its own landing experience.
  7. Save the article and listing page. Review post availability deliberately before publishing. Keep the website's separate visibility setting unchanged unless an authorized administrator approves launch.

Read it as a visitor

Open the listing without the editor and follow its first post link. Verify the title, summary, image, publication date, and return navigation. Test a narrow screen and check that unpublished posts are not unexpectedly listed.

If the collection appears empty, inspect the selected root, post availability, date, and listing limits before recreating the post. A successful save does not establish correct discovery. For the model behind these steps, see blogs, collections, and search visibility.
