Displaying collections on a page

Documentation / Collections and content trees

A collection-listing block displays existing collection items inside a page. It does not copy their content into that page or change their collection membership. The same collection can therefore appear in a full archive and in a shorter related-content section.

Configure the listing

In the managed editor, insert a collection listing and choose its Collection. Select a display preset suited to the content. Dated collections offer blog-oriented presets such as cards, headlines, and minimal listings. Sequential collections offer tree navigation, breadcrumbs, cards, and other presentations.

Use Sort Order to choose date order, alphabetical order, custom order, random order, or Popular (Rating). Popular uses stored ratings; it is not evidence of visitor traffic. Max records (0 = all) limits the number displayed. Dated listings also support a Show "See More" button option and an initial item count.

The available settings depend on the selected source and preset. Do not expect every presentation to show an image, summary, or date. A title-only list deliberately omits those elements.

Keep structure and design separate

A sequential collection's custom order comes from its root file. Changing the listing preset does not reorder that tree. Listings filter availability; dated listings also exclude future dates. The tree renderer separately excludes items marked unlisted. Do not use a future date as access protection.

Validate the rendered block

Save the page, reload it, and open several item links. Check the current language, image crops, summary lengths, and narrow-screen layout. If fewer items appear than expected, inspect availability, dates, language, and the record limit before assuming content was deleted.
